A woman died after getting stuck in a traffic jam in UP's Kanpur. The woman was being taken to the hospital for treatment. Traffic was stopped on Govindpuri bridge during the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind. During this, the condition of the woman trapped in the jam worsened and by the time she reached the hospital, it was too late. The woman was declared brought dead by the doctors. Kanpur Police Commissioner Aseem Arun has apologized for the incident. Meanwhile, the SI and three head constables have been suspended in the case.
This is what has happened
Vandana Mishra (50), belonging to the Indian Industries Association Kanpur chapter, got stuck in a traffic jam on the Govindpuri bridge on Friday. Traffic was stopped here due to the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind. It is alleged that she was stuck in the jam here for about 45 minutes. It took them about a quarter of an hour to reach the Regency Hospital after the jam opened. Here the doctors declared her brought dead. The family alleges that despite repeated requests to the policemen posted on Govindpuri Bridge, the road was not opened. For this reason, when they reached the hospital, a lot of time had passed.
SI and three head constables suspended
Meanwhile, the SI and three head constables have been suspended in the case. Kanpur Police Commissionerate has tweeted and said, 'Citizens should not face any problem for safety, not at all in case of medical emergency. Steps are being taken to improve the system so that such recurrence does not happen. SI Sushil Kumar and 3 main constables have been suspended for stopping the traffic for more than the instructions, Additional DCP South will investigate.
President expressed grief
Kanpur Police Commissionerate has said in a tweet, 'Saddened by the untimely and demise of His Excellency Rashtrapati Ji Sister Vandana Mishra Ji. He called the Commissioner of Police and District Magistrate and inquired about the information and asked them to convey their message to the bereaved family. Both the officers attended the funeral and conveyed His Majesty's message to the bereaved family.
DCP Traffic ordered an inquiry
In this matter, NBT Online spoke to DCP Traffic BBGTS Murthy. DCP Traffic Murthy said, 'Cognizance of the entire matter has been taken. Additional DCP Traffic has also been entrusted with the investigation in this regard. After investigation, if the negligence of any policeman is found then action will be taken.
Police Commissioner apologizes
Meanwhile, Kanpur Police Commissioner Aseem Arun reached Vandana Mishra's house. He met late Vandana's husband Sharad Mishra and expressed his condolences and apologized for the incident. On behalf of the Kanpur Police Commissionerate, he said in the tweet, 'Kanpur Police and I am personally apologetic for the demise of IIA President Sister Vandana Mishra Ji. This is a great lesson for the future. We pledge that our route arrangement will be such that citizens are stopped for a minimum time so that such incidents do not recur.
Corona infection happened one and a half months ago
Vandana was famous for women's entrepreneurship in Kanpur. Vandana, a resident of K block of Kidwai Nagar, was the president of the women's wing of the Indian Industries Association Kanpur chapter. Apart from this, she had also been an office-bearer of the Indian Council of Women Entrepreneurs. She had a corona infection about a month and a half ago. She recovered from Corona but her health did not recover at all. For several days, she complained of nervousness and vomiting. After this, her husband Sharad Mishra took her to the Regency Hospital on Friday morning. After getting the test done here, she came home. But in the evening she again got some issues. The family members left for Regency Hospital but got stuck due to the jam on Govindpuri Bridge.
