Explainer: What is BharOS? Will it beat Android? know all about it..

Android and iOS operating systems have been dominating the mobile operating system (OS) segment for a long time now. Apart from Apple, almost all other smartphones use the Android operating system, but in the last few years many new indigenous operating systems have come up which have the potential to challenge Android. One such indigenous mobile operating system is BharOS, which is claimed to benefit 100 crore mobile phone users in India. Let us try to know what BharOS is and why it is being called India's rival for the mobile operating system Android.

What is BharOS?

BharOS also known as 'Bharosa' is an indigenous mobile operating system. This mobile operating system has been developed by the incubated firm of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). This software can be installed on commercial off-the-shelf handsets.

The special thing about this OS is that it comes with hi-tech security and privacy. That is, in this mobile operating system, users get more freedom, control and flexibility to choose and use apps according to their needs. This software can be installed on commercial off-the-shelf devices.

How is it different from Android?

IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti has given information about the indigenous self-sufficient mobile operating system BharOS. According to V. Kamakoti, Bharos focuses on giving users more freedom, control and flexibility to choose and use apps that suit their needs. At present, the services of the indigenous mobile operating system Bharos are being provided to organisations that are in dire need of security and privacy.

In fact, users of these organisations handle sensitive information and this requires private communication on restricted apps on mobile. Such users need access to a private cloud service through a private 5G network.

In such a situation, this indigenous mobile operating system is considered more reliable than Android. Explain that this software has been developed by JNDK Operations Pvt, which has been developed by IIT Madras Innovative Technologies Foundation. It is a not for profit company of IIT Madras.
