The Regulatory Commission will only conduct an online public hearing on the petition filed by UPCL

The Regulatory Commission will only conduct an online public hearing on the petition filed by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) for the imposition of a surcharge on electricity rates in the state. For this, the date of August 22 has been fixed.

For this, a total of four places have been earmarked, from where consumers will be able to present their side by joining online. UPCL's electricity hike tariff was released by the Regulatory Commission on April 1. UPCL had demanded in the regulatory commission to revise this tariff with a surcharge, citing the increasing economic burden from costly electricity.

The petition was dismissed after a public hearing. UPCL again filed a petition for a surcharge, on which the date of the online public hearing was fixed. After the public hearing, the commission will take a decision on the admissibility of the petition.
