The people of Uttarakhand will soon get the facility of e-FIR. In this, FIR can be lodged while sitting at home. Initially, e-FIR can be done in respect of vehicle theft and missing items. In this regard, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with senior officials of the Home and Police Department at the Secretariat.

A presentation of the e-FIR portal being made under CCTNS was given before the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister said that simplification, solution, disposal, and satisfaction is the basic mantra of the government. The system should be such that the public can get their grievances resolved in an easy way. The Chief Minister said that e-FIR would bring great convenience to the common people. The person will not have to worry about registering an FIR. The e-FIR should be reviewed regularly by the higher authorities.

There is a need to increase the use of modern technology in policing

CM Dhami said that there is a need to increase the use of modern technology in policing. Drone technology should also be used. The Chief Minister has directed organization meetings on various points related to police training, modernization, and police reforms. The Chief Minister said that necessary provisions need to be made to prevent false FIRs. A committee should be formed to give suggestions in this regard.

A virtual police station will be set up in e-FIR

Notification for e-FIR is yet to be issued. Initially, this will cover FIR in respect of vehicle theft and missing mobiles and items. A virtual police station will be set up in e-FIR. Whatever e-FIR is done, it will go to this virtual police station. The complainant will get an acknowledgment of this. Here it will be tested and forwarded to the concerned police station for necessary action. The e-FIR portal will also be linked with the Devbhoomi mobile app.
