The threat of Corona is looming over the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now serious about this. There board held a meeting with all the franchisees on Saturday (January 22). In the virtual meeting, it has been agreed that all the matches of the tournament can be held in two cities of Maharashtra, Mumbai, and Pune.

News agency ANI has quoted BCCI sources as saying that the 15th season of IPL can start on March 27 (Sunday). BCCI wants to organize the tournament in Maharashtra and the first match is likely to be held in Mumbai. BCCI is making every effort to organize the tournament in India itself.

Why agree on Mumbai and Pune?

With the four grounds in Mumbai and Pune being close to each other, events can be held there easily. Matches can be held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India (Braborne Stadium), and DY Patil Stadium apart from Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. During this time, spectators will not be allowed to enter the stadium. Players will not have to go to the airport for matches in Mumbai and Pune. They can travel by bus. In such a situation, distance from outsiders will be maintained.

What happened to UAE, South Africa, and Sri Lanka?

IPL can be done once again in UAE if the problem of Covid-19 increases. The board is not ready for South Africa. Due to the matches being held in UAE in two seasons, the board will be at ease there. The name of Sri Lanka was being taken as an alternative in the media, but there was no discussion about it in the meeting.
