Three months’ tax can be waived for passenger vehicles in Uttarakhand. The Transport Department has sent the proposal of tax waiver to the Finance Department. If the government passes the proposal, then 1.5 lakh motor owners in the state will get its benefit. The work of Bus, Taxi, Maxi, Auto, Vikram, Magic has been badly affected during the Corona period. Due to the outbreak of the second wave of Corona from April, the Corona Curfew was implemented, due to which passenger vehicles could not operate.
The owners of passenger vehicles demanded financial help from the government, tax exemption as well as a fare increase. The government has given a mandate to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,000 each to the drivers and conductors of passenger vehicles for six months. Now preparations are on to waive their tax. The Transport Department has prepared a proposal to waive the tax from April to June and sent it to the finance department.
We have sent a proposal to Finance to waive off the tax when the vehicles were not operated during the Corona Curfew. This proposal will go to the cabinet meeting. The decision on tax exemption will be taken in the cabinet meeting itself said Ranjit Sinha, Secretary Transport
