T20 World Cup will be organized in UAE, not India, BCCI announced
This time the T20 World cup will be organized in the UAE. Earlier it was to be played in India but because of Covid, the BCCI has to inform the ICC that this tournament should be played in the UAE
The ongoing apprehensions regarding the organization of the T20 World Cup have come to an end. BCCI has decided to organize it in UAE. This was informed by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Monday. Today was the last date for the BCCI to convey its decision to the ICC.
Shukla said that the dates will remain the same. Qualifiers will start immediately after IPL. The Qualifier matches will be played in Oman. The rest of the matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the UAE.
He said, 'As far as the T20 World Cup is concerned, today was the last date to tell the ICC its decision. So, we had a conference call with all the BCCI officials. We talked and discussed the situation of Covid.
Shukla further said that no one knows what is going to happen after two-three months. Keeping everything in mind, it has been decided that the BCCI will tell the ICC that the World Cup should be shifted to the UAE as this is the right venue after India. We wanted to organize it in India and our first priority was India.
Ganguly and Jay Shah also confirmed
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also confirmed this to news agency PTI. Ganguly has said that this time the T20 World Cup will be played in the UAE.
