State got 1.19 lakh Covid vaccine from Center, 18 to 44 age group will get vaccines from today
The government has decided to vaccinate those in the age group of 18 to 44 from the quota of above 45 age group
Uttarakhand has received a consignment of 1.19 lakh Covid vaccine from the Center on Thursday. These vaccines were found for those above 45. But from the quota of this category, people in the age group of 18 to 44 will be vaccinated on Friday.
The 119850 vaccines sent by the Center for the age group above 45 reached Dehradun on Thursday. The vaccine was distributed to the districts from the State Vaccine Center at Chandernagar. The vaccination for the age group of 18 to 44 will start again from Friday which was earlier forced to closed due to lack of vaccine. The government has decided to vaccinate those in the age group of 18 to 44 from the quota of above 45 age group.
On Thursday, 14506 people were vaccinated at 312 centers in the state. So far, more than 22.27 lakh people have received the first dose of the vaccine whereas more than 6.85 people completed the vaccination with the second dose. In the age group of 18 to 44, 278511 people have taken the first dose.
Dr. Saroj Naithani, Director, National Health Mission said that the state has received 1.19 lakh Covidshield vaccines from the Centre. From May 4, people in the age group of 18 to 44 will also be vaccinated.
Vaccination campaign started in state jails
In order to protect the prisoners from infection in the jails of the state, orders have now been given to start the vaccination campaign. On the orders of IG Jail, the campaign has been started in some jails of the state. The campaign will be launched in the future based on the availability of vaccines.
About 6000 prisoners are lodged in 11 jails of the state. Some of them have also been released on parole and interim bail. In such a situation, their number at present is more than five thousand. To protect all these from corona infection, a vaccination campaign has been started in the jails.
IG Jail told that for this, letters were written to the District Magistrates and CMOs of all the districts. The first dose has been given on the basis of availability in all major jails including Dehradun. For the second dose also, all the districts will be informed in the future. Apart from this, all medicines and test kits have been made available in hospitals to prevent infection and test.
Ayush kits will be made available
IG Jail said that all the jails will be provided kits from the AYUSH department. Ayush department has been contacted in this regard. These kits will include decoction and other medicines. Currently, 100 kits have arrived. Some more kits are also likely to arrive soon.
