Sports stadium ready to host National Games in Haridwar at the cost of 37 crores
Uttarakhand has been given the responsibility of conducting the 38th National Games on behalf of the Central Government. The National Games are proposed in 2022.
For the 38th National Games, the Sports Stadium in Haridwar has already been decorated and beautified. For this, sports stadiums worth 37 crores are being prepared for hockey and wrestling. The hockey stadium is almost ready, while the wrestling indoor stadium will also be completed soon.
Uttarakhand has been given the responsibility of conducting the 38th National Games on behalf of the Central Government. The National Games are proposed in 2022, but due to the Corona transition, it is not yet certain when these events will take place. Till now the proposed 36th National Games have not been held in Goa. The 37th National Games are to be held in Chhattisgarh. After this, the National Games are to be organized in Uttarakhand. For this, the state government is busy preparing the stadiums. Along with Dehradun, Rudrapur and Haldwani, Haridwar has also been selected for the National Games.
Grounds are being prepared for hockey, wrestling and horse riding in the sports stadium located in Roshnabad. The National Hockey Stadium is being built with a budget of Rs 17 crore on 15 acres of land behind the sports stadium. Here an indoor stadium is being built for wrestling with 20 crores. No budget has been released for equestrian sports yet. National level sports grounds are being equipped with facilities as per the national level standards.
Two thousand spectators will be able to sit in the hockey stadium
Deputy District Sports Officer Varun Belwal said that two thousand spectators will be able to watch the match sitting together in the hockey stadium. For this, an audience gallery is being built. Apart from the hockey ground, a separate practice ground is also being prepared for the players.
The dreams of local players will also have wings
The national-level ground being prepared for the national games is almost ready. Local players will also get an opportunity to play on the field. Deputy District Sports Officer Varun Belwal said that with the preparation of the sports ground, the dreams of local players will also be able to take wings.
