Selection standards changed for the teachers for Shailesh Matiyani State Educational Award
Every year 29 government and aided teachers of the state are given Shailesh Matiyani Awards for their outstanding work in the field of education
The Uttarakhand government has changed the criteria for the selection of teachers for the Shailesh Matiani State Educational Award. Education Minister Arvind Pandey has given his approval to this proposal. Under this, now teachers above the age of 58 years will not be able to apply for this award. At the same time, for the award of teachers, the service of at least ten years and for principal and headmaster the duration of the service of at least 15 years will be mandatory.
Shailesh Matiyani Award award is given on the basis of examination results of teachers, new work, etc. The teachers who are rewarded are rewarded with an extension of service of two years in the department, citation, memento and cash amount, but from the last few years, the department has been accused of not being transparent in the selection of teachers. This is the reason that the standards have been changed for this award given to the teachers at the state level by the government.
Education Minister Arvind Pandey has approved this proposal of the department. Under the proposal sent for this by the Directorate of Education, teachers will be awarded marks by committees formed at various levels for transparency in the selection of teachers. A maximum of five marks will be given by the district committee and a maximum of five marks will also be given by the divisional committee.
Apart from this, a maximum of 85 marks will be given as per the standard format. The evaluation of the cases will be done after physical verification and examination by the Divisional Committee. According to the proposal sent by Education Director RK Kunwar, teachers will now be able to apply for this award only two years before their retirement.
This is also the reason for the change in standards
Actually, many teachers in the education department apply for this award shortly before retirement. By the time the award is announced, these teachers have retired.
In such a situation, if these teachers get the award, then under the rule, these teachers will have to be given an extension of service for two years, but under the departmental service rules, the teacher cannot be kept in service after retirement.
