After the announcement of financial assistance of two thousand rupees per month to the drivers-operators and cleaners of the city bus, auto and vikram , now school bus and school van operators have also started agitation for financial relief. Under the banner of Uttarakhand School Van Association, the van operators took out a foot procession from Gandhi Park to the District Magistrate's office on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate.
Association's state president Sachin Gupta said that schools and colleges have been closed for the last two years due to corona infection. In such a situation, school van operators are facing serious financial problems. Earning is completely stopped due to the non-operation of vehicles. The situation is that one has to take a loan to run the family.
The officials raised the demand that along with waiving off of road tax for two years for school van drivers, permit fees and insurance should also be waived and no penalty should be imposed on those who buy vehicles by taking loans. School fees of children of van operators should be waived by 50 percent. Gagan Dhingra, Virendra, Dimple Kumar, Pawan Paswan, Mukesh Kumar, Neeraj, Chandramohan, Vipin Joshi, Manoj Kumar, Shankar Thapa included many school van drivers and operators.
