On the lines of UP, the education department in Uttarakhand is also in favour of opening schools from July 1. In the departmental review meeting, the officers unanimously recommended to Education Minister Arvind Pandey about the opening of schools. The Education Minister will take a final decision in this matter after talks with Chief Minister Tirath Rawat. The Education Minister discussed various issues in his office in the Vidhan Sabha. In view of the continuous shortage in Corona, the officials recommended the minister to open the school from July 1. According to sources, in the meeting, the officials said that schools can be opened following the norms of Corona.

Schools have summer vacations till June 30. The Education Minister said that it is not in the interest of the students to remain closed for a long time. A decision on this will be taken after consultation and instructions with the CM. Education Secretary R Meenakshisundaram, DG-Education Vinay Shankar Pandey, Education Director RK Kunwar, Director ART Seema Jaunsari, APD-Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati, AD Headquarters Ramakrishna Uniyal, VS Rawat, BS Negi etc. were present in the meeting.

Free books for OBC and general children from class 9 to 12

In the current academic session, the government is also going to provide free books to all the general and OBC students from class 9 to 12. A consensus was reached in this regard in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Tirath Rawat on April 7. Till now only about one lakh SC-ST students are given 700 to 1000 rupees for books through DBT. Education Secretary R. Meenakshisundaram has asked the government to make a full proposal for the expenditure on giving books to the remaining students of classes 9 to 12. According to sources, an additional financial burden of about Rs 25 crore will come on this.
