People of Diyadi village are living a good life by doing farming. Not even 1 family migrated
In the Diyadi Gram Sabha of Naugaon block of Uttarkashi district, people still make a living by doing agriculture and not a single family has been a victim of migration from this Gram Sabha
Migration has been the biggest irony of the state of Uttarakhand. For years people have been migrating from villages to cities in search of employment. It has been a long time for people to have visited these deserted villages. Amid all this, there are some villages in Uttarakhand, which have given hope, which has never moved from the mountains to the cities till date. There is such a gram sabha in Uttarkashi where people still live by farming and not a single family has been a victim of migration from this gram sabha.
It is a matter of pride that such people have preserved the heritage of Uttarakhand even now. Nanaji Deshmukh National Gaurav Gram Sabha Awardee Diyadi Gram Sabha of Naugaon block of Uttarkashi district presents a concrete example in the society in every sense. Not a single family in the Gram Sabha migrated from the village due to employment. Even today people do farming for employment and live a life of ease. There are 44 families and 450 people living in Diyadi Gram Sabha.
There is another special feature of Diyadi Gram Sabha. This gram sabha is also conscious about protecting the environment and cleanliness campaigns are conducted by the people in the village from time to time. Not only this, but this Gram Sabha is also polythene free and cleanliness is also taken care of here.
Altogether a total of 44 families and 450 people living in this village have settled a different world where everyone is living comfortably and without any problems. Till today no one had to go outside the village for a job.
It is not that there are no educated people in this Gram Sabha. You will also be surprised to know the literacy rate of Diyadi Gram Sabha. The literacy rate here is 95 percent. Where 10 people are employed in police, army and other government services. There are also primary and junior schools inside the gram sabha.
Located at 150 km from Uttarkashi district headquarter, Diyadi Gram Sabha is connected by road and all the families here are dependent on agriculture and present a living example of self-employment. Not a single family has migrated from the village, every family is associated with their ancestral business ie farming.
Meena Devi, a resident of the village told that every family earns from 5 lakh to 10 lakh rupees per year by doing farming. Every family of Gram Sabha produces cash crops along with wheat and paddy and one family sells tomato, capsicum and peas from 5 to 10 lakh in a year. These vegetables are bought by agents from Vikas Nagar, Dehradun, Saharanpur and Delhi.
The head of the Gram Sabha, Sushma Verma, told that every week the villagers collectively conduct a cleanliness campaign in the Gram Sabha. Along with this, every villager in Diyadi Gram Sabha is aware of the environment and this is the reason that the biggest enemy of the environment, plastic polythene has been boycotted by all the villagers and because of this, the Gram Sabha has been declared polythene free.
