Paddy procurement will start from October 1, increase in minimum support price by Rs 72

Paddy will be procured in Uttarakhand from October 1. Food Minister Banshidhar Bhagat said that this year the minimum support price of normal and grade A paddy has been increased by Rs 72 as compared to last year. The price of normal paddy has been increased from Rs 1868 per quintal to Rs 1940 and for Grade A paddy from Rs 1888 to Rs 1960.

Food Minister Banshidhar Bhagat took a meeting of departmental officialss at his Yamuna Colony residence in connection with the preparations for procurement in Kharif procurement session 2021-22. In the meeting, he instructed the officers that the procurement of paddy is to be done from October 1, for this the departmental officers should complete all the preparations. Seasonal staff like chowkidar, computer operator should be appointed at various paddy procurement centers.

Weighing machines hould be installed at all centers for paddy procurement so that the procurement of paddy starting from October 1 is not affected in any way. The departmental minister directed to buy paddy from government departments from October 1 to 15 and then through commission agents to buy paddy from farmers. The minister said that a total target of 15 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been given in Kharif season. In which 12 lakh metric tonnes of is to be purchased from Kumaon and three lakh metric tonnes from Garhwal division.

The Departmental Minister said that four agencies, Food Department, Cooperation Department, NAFED and NCCF have been nominated for procurement of paddy. 240 procurement centers are to be opened in Kharif season. The minister directed DM Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar to inform about how many hectares of paddy was sown in the current season and how much it was produced, farmer-wise, within 15 days. Additional Secretary Pratap Singh Shah, RFC Kumaon Lalit Mohan Rayal, RFC Garhwal Chandra Singh Dharamshaktu, Additional Commissioner Food PS Pangti, Deputy Secretary Ekumar Raju etc. were present in the meeting.
