At the prestigious Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarkashi, the national-level competition of sports climbing is going to start on Friday. NIM has got the first time to host the National Sport Climbing Championship. Under which competitions of lead climbing, bouldering climbing, and speed climbing will be organized. There the preparations have been completed in 'NIM' to make the three-day championship starting from August 12 a success.

Around 250 climbers from across the country will participate in the championship. The competition is being jointly organized by 'NIM' and 'Indian Mountaineering Foundation.’ Colonel Amit Bisht, Principal of 'NIM' told that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been invited as the chief guest in the competition.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya will inaugurate

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya will inaugurate this championship. Minister Rekha Arya has reached the Chinyalisaur airstrip by chartered aircraft of the Uttarakhand government. From here she will reach Nehru Mountaineering Institute, 35 km away via road. The championship is to be held from August 12 to August 14. Earlier in the month of June, the North Zone Sport Climbing competition was held in Nim. The competition to be held till August 14 is being organized for the first time in 'Nim', located about three km from the district headquarter Uttarkashi. 

 

Seven teams from different zones of the country are participating

Nim's Sport Climbing Center is built on international standards. Seven teams from different zones of the country are participating in the National Sport Climbing Championship to be held at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. There are 250 participants in these seven teams. Teams will be selected for the Asian and Olympic Games from 'NIM' itself.

Bisht said that there are eight climbers from Uttarakhand in the competition, out of which five are from Uttarkashi.
