Mahesh Jeena is the newly elected MLA from the Salt assembly constituency. He would take an oath of office on May 27 to become a state legislative assembly member.

Mahesh Chandra Jeena, the newly elected MLA from the Salt assembly constituency, would take a formal oath on 27 May for being a member of the state legislative assembly. The speaker, Prem Chand Agarwal, would administer the oath to Jeena. Mahesh Jeena won the recent assembly election of Salt in Almora on the ticket of BJP.
He is the elder brother of the late Surendra Singh Jeena, whose death resulted in the by-election. On Tuesday, the MLA made a courtesy call on chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat to inform him about the various issues of his constituencies. The CM, in turn, assured him of necessary measures to resolve the same.
Jeena won easily in the by-election with a comfortable 4, 697 vote victory over the Congress candidate Ganga Pancholi. A robust organizational setup and the surge in emotional waves led to this victory.
