Cantonment Board Dehradun Chief Executive Officer Tanu Jain said in a press conference held at the Cantonment Board office that in the military history of the country, there are innumerable tales of bravery of the soldiers of Devbhoomi. As a symbol of their indomitable courage and sacrifice, the foundation of the war memorial was laid on the initiative of former Rajya Sabha member Tarun Vijay. The proposal to keep the MiG-21 in the war memorial was passed in the Cantt Board meeting about two years ago. The aircraft has reached here with the special efforts of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria.

Here, Tarun Vijay, former Rajya Sabha member and chairman of the War Memorial, told that the symbols of the three armies are to be placed in the Shaurya Sthal, which is being prepared to pay tribute to the martyrs of the country. MiG-21 has reached Doon. Two rifles have already been donated by the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Vipin Rawat to enhance the glory of the war memorial. Apart from this, a ship has also been recommended to the Ministry of Defense as a symbol of the courage of the Navy.

MiG-21 was the pride of the Air Force

The use of MiG-21 fighter aircraft in India has started in 1964. This is the only aircraft that has been used by about 60 countries around the world. The MiG-21 is the largest number of supersonic fighter jets ever built in the history of aviation. The MiG-21 also played a key role in the 1971 and 1999 Kargil wars with Pakistan. The speed of the MiG 21 fighter aircraft is 2229 km per hour. It is fitted with a turbojet engine, which gives the aircraft supersonic speed.
