Markets opened after 42 days on Wednesday due to partial unlocking in corona curfew in Uttarakhand. From eight in the morning till five in the evening, there was a rush of customers in the markets. Garments, utensils, electronics and mobile shops were lit up. However, many customers forgot to wear masks and were not maintaining a physical distance.
Due to the Covid curfew imposed in the state from April 28, orders were issued to open only shops of essential services. On Wednesday, when the markets started opening after 42 days at eight in the morning, the movement of customers also started.
By 10 in the morning, most of the markets were crowded. The biggest crowd was those who bought coolers, fans and ACs. There was a crowd at the clothing shops. People also shopped for clothes as wedding season is going on.
Apart from the clothes of the bride and groom, women and men also bought clothes for themselves to attend the ceremony. Women also shopped for cosmetic items. Buyers were also seen at the footwear shop.
Liquor shops were also closed due to the Covid curfew. When the liquor shops opened after 42 days, people thronged to the shops. At many shops, people started coming in even before eight o'clock. By noon, there were long queues in front of the shops.
There was a rush of people at the grocery store to buy pulses, flour, spices, oil. The shopkeepers appealed to the people who came to buy the goods to maintain social distance or come later by taking pamphlets. Most of the people left the prescription in shops and left.
A lot of dirt had accumulated in the shops. The shopkeepers first cleaned together with the employees and after that, they started trading. Rats caused more damage during the closure of shops of cloth, plastic, confectionery, plastic etc.
