Kanwar Yatra: Haridwar's border will be sealed from July 24, will consider carrying water in tankers
The DGP said that if any Kanwariya does not agree to not to come to Haridwar during the banned period, then a case should be registered against him
The police has once again geared up regarding the Kanwar Mela ban. From July 24, the borders of Haridwar will be sealed for Kanwariyas. On Thursday, the DGP gave necessary directions to the police officers in video conferencing.
He said that if any Kanwariya is seen on the road during the restricted period, they will be politely asked to return. Despite this, if they do not agree then does not agree, then a case should be registered against him.
Officers of Intelligence, DIG Range, Haridwar and Dehradun Police officers were involved in the video conferencing held at the Police Headquarters. The DGP said that the Kanwar yatra has been banned, for which an SOP should be prepared in consultation with the concerned District Magistrate. If any Kawandiya is seen on the road, then they will be respectfully removed from the road and sent back by bus or other means.
The DGP directed to constitute enforcement teams in Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri and Pauri Garhwal districts. Trains will be stopped at stations falling before Haridwar to stop Kanwariyas coming from trains. If anyone is seen there they will be sent back by shuttle trains. The matter should be continuously discussed with the Kanwar Sangh and the committees.
Will consider carrying water by tankers
In Haridwar, a meeting will be organized under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police, Law and Order regarding the ban of Kanwar Mela along with border police stations. In this, the range officers of the districts bordering other states will be called. The meeting will jointly consider sending Gangajal through tankers. Before this, after talking to the Kanwar Sangh and committees, they will be informed about the ban.
Kanwar Mela has been banned. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the police that there is no disorder of any kind. The kanwariyas will first be politely explained. After this, action will be taken against them only if necessary. A coordination meeting was held on 6th July last. Another meeting will be held with the officers of border districts in the coming days said Ashok Kumar, DGP, Uttarakhand.
