Neither the new return is getting filed through the portal nor is the copy of the old return file being received. The taxpayers are getting worried due to this.

The Income Tax Department launched the e-filing portal on June 7. According to the Directorate of Income Tax, the official website for filing ITR is https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/Pages/tax-services/file-income-tax-returnbut the site is down most of the times.Because of the launch of the new portal, the department kept the old website closed from June 1 to 6 and the ITR could not be filled during this time.

The new portal was said to be user-friendly but the story after the launch is different altogether. Taxpayers say that many features in the portal are not working. The new portal is very slow and not working properly. In its upper service section, facilities like e-verification, Aadhaar-PAN link and PAN verification are not working. People told that leave aside filing the return, those who have filed the return in the past are not even able to take out its copy.
