In a press conference held at the Press Club on Monday, agitator Praveen Singh Kashi said that the purpose for which the state of Uttarakhand was created has not been fulfilled to date. It is said that it is a hill state therefore, its capital should also be on the mountain itself, but the leaders made the capital in Doon for their selfishness. He said that in 2018, various organizations, including the Gairsain Standing Capital Committee, staged a sit-in in Gairsain for a permanent capital. The police had registered a case against 40 agitators. 38 agitators were jailed. After five days all were released on bail. He has also been summoned in this regard and hence he will go to jail on September 14. He said that if the demand for permanent capital is a crime, he would commit this crime again and again.
Puran Singh Negi, vice-president and agitator of Standing Rajdhani Sangharsh Samiti, said that the mountain does not even have basic facilities. There are no doctors in the hospitals. There are no teachers in the schools. Unemployment is at its peak. The people of the mountains are migrating for the facilities. During this, Pahari Army convener Harish Rawat, Pauri Sangharsh Samiti President Naman Chandola, Gairsain Rajdhani Abhiyan president Madan Bhandari, Uttarakhand Kisan Andolan leader Vipin Khanna also spoke of Praveen Singh's support.
