According to the data of the Labor Department, only 327 workers have been laid off across the state during the Covid lockdown. The legislators have also emphasized on timely disposal of pending cases in labor courts. During the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, MLA Manoj Rawat in the House had sought information from the Labor Minister about the workers who became unemployed due to Covid. In response to this, Labor Minister Harak Singh said that according to the complaints received by the regional offices, the services of 327 workers were terminated during this period.
The government is providing employment opportunities to the unemployed people through various self-employment schemes and MNREGA. He said that during the Covid period, 25,317 migrant workers had informed about their return on the portal of the Skill Development Department, but now most of them have returned. At the same time, MLA Deshraj Karnwal questioned the government about the retrenchment of workers in industries without informing them and giving low pay scales.
MLA Saurabh Bahuguna said that many people have been removed from the job in Sidkul area of Sitarganj. Such workers have gone to the labor court, but the hearing of the cases has slowed down. Bahuguna raised the question about hearing the cases filed in the labor courts within the stipulated time frame. The Labor Minister has assured timely disposal of such cases.
