GST theft on a large scale in Rudrapur, departmental action not taken against traders

GST evasion is being done on a large scale in Rudrapur. No departmental action could be taken against such traders since March. The State Tax Department has tightened the noose on the traders of Scrub and Rice Brian regarding GST. After the interrogation of five traders, four in the city and one in Gadarpur block, statements have been recorded in the case. Investigation revealed that business worth crores of rupees was going on only on paper. The STF wing of the state tax neither got the godown nor the supply of any kind of goods on the spot. In the investigation so far, the matter of tax evasion of about Rs 25 lakh has come to the fore.

There are five traders in the city doing business of iron scrub and rice brines. In March, the state tax officer of STF section Anil Chauhan and his team raided traders in which the business of four scraps and rice brines of the city came under the clutches. A trader is from Gadarpur, whose firm was also investigated and found in a mess. Neither their firm was found in the portal nor their stock of warehouse and goods was found at the place shown in the papers.

State Tax Officer Anil Chauhan said that after investigation, notices were given to all these five traders and the reply was sought and the process of recording their statements was initiated. In the middle of which there was some delay in recording the statement due to Corona. The information provided in the online portal is also not correct. In such a situation, there is an apprehension that somewhere the evasion of GST is being done by all these firm operators. The investigation process is now progressing rapidly. New information will come out in the matter soon.
