Everyone knows that physical activity is vital to maintain health. It also blesses you with longevity. You must be curious as to how many steps should be taken daily? It is believed that the more steps are taken, the better it is for the body.  People are unaware of how it is linked to long life. Old studies prepared the data based on participant's reports to examine the fact. In the activity tracker era today, scientists can closely study how the number of steps contributes to longevity. 

Epidemiological researcher Christopher Moore at the University of North Carolina says that technological advances have allowed researchers to measure shorter periods of activity in recent decades. With the help of wearable devices, there are indications that any physical activity is better than being sedentary. 

In a new study, Moore and fellow researchers analyzed data collected from about 40,000 women. In a subset of the data, researchers examined the longevity of 16,732 women who wore step counters at their waist. It measured their daily steps and walking patterns for four to seven days between 2011 and 2015. The findings discovered that people with more walking are likely to live longer.
