On Tuesday late night, another exciting match was seen in Euro Cup 2020. Italy and Spain, the two great teams of the football world, were face to face in the first semi-final match of Euro 2020. Italy, running in excellent form, defeated Spain to make it to the final. Italy, however, did not get this victory easily and had to go to the penalty shootout to get a ticket to the final. Italy won the penalty shootout 4-2.
Already speculations were being made about a very tough competition between the two teams and the same thing was seen in the match as well. Even 90 minutes of the match and 30 minutes of extra time did not prove enough to decide the outcome of this high voltage match. The name of the first team to reach the final of Euro Cup 2020 was revealed only after going through the penalty shootout.
At the very beginning of the match, both the teams started attacking. But as much as the attack of both the teams was strong, so was the defense. As a result of this, the fans did not get to see a single goal in the first half. Italy, however, created a goal opportunity only after 15 minutes of the second half. Italy's Federico Cieza scored the first goal of the semi-finals of the Euro Cup 2020 in the 60th minute of the match.
Very tough competition between the two teams
Spain, however, started making a comeback opportunity soon after scoring the goal. After 20 minutes Spain also got that chance. Morata scored a goal in the 80th minute of the match to level the match at 1-1. After this, no goal was seen even in extra time.
The match reached a penalty shootout. After passing three penalties, both the teams were tied at 2-2. Italy, however, took a 3-2 lead on the fourth penalty. This is where Spain missed. Spain missed the fourth penalty and Italy took a 3-2 lead. Italy also took the fifth penalty, while Spain missed once again. In the end, Italy reached the final by winning 4-2.
Italy will face the winner of the second semi-final in the final match of the Euro Cup 2020 to be played on 11 July.
