Ethanol is found in petrol, damaging parts including the engines of bikes
The cases of engine failure of bikes due to ethanol mixed with petrol have increased these days in Haldwani
The cases of engine failure of bikes due to ethanol mixed with petrol have increased these days in Haldwani. In July, more than 150 bikes have reached the companies' workshops due to engine problems. Along with water coming in the petrol tank, there are complaints of other parts related to petrol supply getting damaged. Two-wheeler showroom owners are worried about this. At the same time, petrol pump owners argue that now 10 percent ethanol is being mixed in petrol. They say that even a small amount of water entering the petrol tank exposes the ethanol to moisture. This problem increases during the monsoon season.
In such a situation, due to the dilution of ethanol, there is a problem in the bikes. This problem usually occurs during the rainy season. Till last year, 15 to 20 bikers used to come to the showrooms of companies with engine problems in these months. According to the professors of chemistry, nothing can be said about the effect of the ethanol found in petrol when it comes in contact with moisture. Something will be known only after proper testing in the laboratory.
A bike's engine turned red
According to the information received from the workshop of a bike company, the engine of the bikes that came in last July was found to be red from inside. The problem related to petrol came to know after sending the company complaint. However, the company gave the claim as per rules. Apart from this, there is a problem of having trouble starting, carburetor malfunction, fuel pump failure.
The cases of problems in the engine of bikes came a lot in the last month. This problem came because of the fuel. The problems were caused by the moisture in the ethanol in the petrol said Harshit Agarwal, Bajrang Hero Two Wheeler Show Room.
