In Uttarakhand, due to continuous rain for two days, a large number of roads have been blocked because of which people are facing huge problems in movement. According to the data of the Public Works Department, a total of 179 roads were closed in the state on Monday, taking the total number of closed roads to 315. However, 65 roads were opened by the department till late in the evening, after which the number of closed roads has now been reduced to 250.
National Highway one and Highway 20 are closed among the roads in the state. A total of 126 roads of PWD are closed in the state while 124 roads of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana are also closed. Chief Engineer of PWD, Hariom Sharma said that till late Monday evening, a total of 250 roads were closed in the state and efforts are on to open them. He said that 374 JCB machines have been engaged in the work to open the roads. He said that due to heavy rains, the work to open the roads is facing great difficulties.
