CYBER CRIME : Dehradun is included in the top 5 districts of the country

Uttarakhand Police is making every effort to curb cybercriminals, despite this, the cases of cybercrime are increasing rapidly. In the past, someone made a fake Facebook ID of the DGP and asked people for money through messenger. Although cases of cyber fraud are coming to the fore from all over the state, the situation in Dehradun is more frightening. Every day five people are getting cheated here.

Dehradun has reached number 5 in the country in terms of cybercrime. Talking about the amount cheated in the whole of Uttarakhand, people here lost Rs 1.72 crore in 22 months. Dehradun has got a place in the top 5 districts across the country in the report of Cyber Safe, the portal of the Union Home Ministry. Obviously, no one wants to top such a record. On average five people are getting their hard-earned money trapped in the clutches of thugs every day. Between 1 August 2019 and 31 May 2021, 3056 people were victims of cyber fraud in Doon district.

The first number in this list is from Hyderabad, where more than 11 thousand cases have been reported. Talking about the whole of Uttarakhand, in the last 22 months, people here have given Rs 1.72 crore to the thugs. However, it is a matter of relief that in many cases STF and Cyber Police have also got about Rs 50 lakh refunded to people. Many thugs have also been arrested in the state.

Uttarakhand Police is among the top 4 states of the country in action against cybercrime. The credit for this largely goes to Uttarakhand STF. STF SSP Ajay Singh said that we have uploaded more than 3500 phone numbers and account numbers of suspected thugs on the portal by putting them on the negative list. Every movement of the fraudsters is monitored through the portal. Well, the police are doing their job, but the people should also be careful. Do not share your bank account and other account details with anyone. Notify the police if you get calls from suspicious numbers.
