Corona effect: 499 prisoners of Haldwani jail will be released on parol or interim bail
A total of 499 inmates will be released from Haldwani Jail to reduce the number of prisoners in jails due to the risk of corona infection. On the order of the High Power Committee, these prisoners will be freed on interim bail or parole.
499 prisoners will be released from jail in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. The list has been sent to the District Legal Services Authority in this regard. Now the jail administration will release these prisoners on parol or interim bail. This step has been taken given the danger of corona infection.
Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had directed all the states to form a high power committee because of the corona virus infection. The committee then asked the District Legal Services Authority for a list of such prisoners who could be freed. However, in severe cases, prisoners in jail will not be given relief. Prisoners will not be released in cases of molestation, gangster and rape.
According to the jailor of Haldwani sub-jail, Udham Singh Nagar District Legal Services Authority has sent a list of 265 under trial and 60 convicted prisoners. At the same time, the list of 172 prisoners has been stamped by the Nainital Authority. With the order of the authority, these detainees will be allowed to be freed from jail on 90 days parole or interim bail.
In 2020, a total of 289 (under trial and convicted) detainees were released for six months. However, 159 of these prisoners have not returned even after the bail period is over. All the prisoners from Nainital had returned. At the same time, a letter has been written to the police officers of their home area to catch the escaped prisoners.
