After the defection of Purola MLA Rajkumar, the internal politics of Congress has become very heated. On Monday, rumors continued to fly in the Congress about other names throughout the day
After the defection of Purola MLA Rajkumar, the internal politics of Congress has become very heated. On Monday, rumors continued to fly in the Congress about other names throughout the day. It is believed that in some seats of Garhwal, BJP is keeping an eye on all opposition parties including Congress. These are the seats where the BJP strategist is not 100% sure of winning.
Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal termed the discussions about the defection of party leaders as baseless. He said that Rajkumar was a very weak link, so he left. Now no one is going to leave the party. According to Godiyal, the disenchantment of the public with the BJP in the state shows that it is now a sinking ship. There is no one to sit in a sinking ship.
According to sources, the top Congress leaders are showing themselves to be carefree, but all the faces sensitive to internal defection are being monitored. In the press conference in Haridwar, the discussions were all about Kishore Upadhyay, the former state president of the party, who came into the limelight by raising the issue of his neglect in Congress. However, Kishor's supporters termed it as pure speculation.
According to sources, after the defection discussions picked up the pace, the top party leaders interacted with some of the leaders and checked their minds. At present, no big name has been talking about leaving.
Congress demands Rajkumar's resignation
The Congress has sought the resignation of Purola MLA Rajkumar, who joined the BJP after defecting. If Rajkumar does not resign from the post of MLA, then Congress will take action against him as per rules. On Monday, Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh said that Rajkumar has lost his right to continue as MLA after defecting. Hopefully Rajkumar will resign soon on moral grounds. If he does not resign, proceedings will be initiated in the assembly as per rules.
Congress alert from defection is now more aggressive
The Congress is now in high alert mode after the loss of Purola MLA Rajkumar to the BJP. Congress is now going to start its election campaign more aggressively. On Monday evening, State President Ganesh Godiyal discussed the future strategy with state in-charge Devendra Yadav in Delhi for one and a half hours. In the meeting, it was agreed to make the election campaign more aggressive.
On defection, it was made clear that no outsider would be taken at the cost of the respect of party workers. After the meeting, Godiyal questioned the BJP that why is the party with a thumping majority of 57 MLAs finally needing leaders of other parties for the elections? This proves that the BJP government has failed.
To hide her failures, the BJP is working to change the CM, cut the tickets of their MLAs and breaking into other parties. This is showing the desperation of the BJP. Godiyal said that the people of Uttarakhand have come to know the reality of BJP. On Tuesday, Congress will stage a sit-in in front of the Legislative Assembly demanding the beginning of the Chardham Yatra. The second phase of Parivartan Yatra will be started in Haridwar from September 18.
