A confidential survey has started to assess the performance of BJP MLAs in Uttarakhand in the last four and a half years. The central leadership of the party has hired a private agency for this. This agency will conduct three surveys of 40 days each. Based on this, the political future of the sitting MLA and other potential contenders of each assembly constituency will be decided. The BJP has been conducting surveys from the assembly and Lok Sabha elections on behalf of the high command. The party has started a confidential survey for the 2022 assembly elections. Its first phase will run till September 10, in which all 70 assembly constituencies of the state have been included.
A senior party leader confirmed this. The second phase will start on September 15 and the third survey will start on October 25. Sources said the party will assess its strengths and weaknesses from the results of these three surveys. If there is displeasure on any issue in the public, then efforts will be made to remove it in time. The survey will be made the main basis in the distribution of tickets to the sitting MLAs and other potential contenders in the assembly elections. With this, the high command will not have to depend too much on the provincial leadership. Sources reveal that another intelligence survey will also be conducted.
Focus on Ayushman card
On the lines of Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, preparations are being made to redeem Atal Ayushman card in Uttarakhand too. In Uttarakhand, there is a facility of free treatment up to five lakhs for each family in a year on this card. Cards of about 40 lakh people have been made in the state, but in comparison to the way the Yogi government is cashing it, there was no concerted effort from Uttarakhands’ side. The suggestion in this regard has also been given to the government from the party level.
Some MLAs tickets might cut
There is a discussion in the BJP that the tickets of some sitting MLAs are set to be cut for the upcoming assembly elections. For this, the main parameters like the personal performance of the MLA so far, public confidence, image, activism and health will become the basis. Along with this, the coordination with the party organization and their activism will be assessed during these four-and-a-half years of the contestants who were defeated in the last elections.
MLAs residing outside the constituency
Such MLAs will also be identified who are giving more time to Doon and Delhi than to their assembly constituencies. Many MLAs of the hills often stay in Doon for at least 12-14 days in a month, while three-four MLAs move to Delhi. The party has been repeatedly instructing the MLAs to stay among the public in their constituency, but the MLAs are taking this advice lightly.
