Complete preparations for the third wave by July - Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials to complete the preparations for the third wave of Corona by July. He was reviewing the arrangements made for the prevention of Covid third wave in the Secretariat.

He instructed that vaccination is necessary to protect against Covid. Along with this, attention should also be paid to testing. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to ensure all necessary arrangements in view of the possible third wave of Corona. He said that he would request the central government to arrange additional vaccines.

The Chief Minister asked to make adequate number of oxygen, ICU, ventilators and separate wards for children in all district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs. He said that all necessary arrangements in this regard should be ensured by the end of July.

The Chief Minister also asked to pay attention to the maintenance of the equipment provided. Secretary Health Amit Negi apprised the Chief Minister that attention has been paid to the development of health facilities to protect against Covid. There is sufficient availability of oxygen in the state. The state ranks 5th in the country in vaccination.

He informed about the arrangements made in this regard through a comprehensive presentation. He said that doctors as well as para medical staff have been trained to prevent this. He said that the spread of corona in the state has come down significantly. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey etc. were present on this occasion.

First referral units will be set up in five districts

First Referral Units (FRUs) will be set up in five districts to reduce maternal mortality in the state. Apart from this, ANM and staff nurses will be deployed in delivery centers and FRUs. Under the National Health Mission, an amount of two crores has been approved for purchase of necessary medical equipment in delivery centers and FRUs.

Under the National Health Mission, Community Health Center Naugaon in Uttarkashi district, Community Health Center Thalisain in Pauri district, Community Health Center Chaund in Tehri district, Community Health Center Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar and Community Health Center in Haridwar district will be established at Laksar. Gynecology, Pediatrics and Anesthesia will be deployed in these FRUs.

The population of the delivery center in the hilly areas is more than three thousand and in the plains it is more than five thousand. An additional deployment of ANM will be done there. Apart from this, staff nurses will be deployed in 11 FIUs at 56 delivery centers in Almora, Champawat, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts.

National Health Mission Director Dr. Saroj Naithani says that in the current financial year, new FRUs will be set up in five districts under NHM. At the same time, additional ANMs and staff nurses will be kept at birth centers having population of more than 3,000 in hilly areas and 5000 in plain areas. An amount of two crores has been approved for medical equipment in delivery centers and FIU.
