Learn about the case in detail

Bajrang Dal members created a ruckus in the school premises on Tuesday after the prestigious Welham Boys School issued a tender for halal meat and poultry products for the mess. In the morning the members forcibly entered the school after opening the gate on the side of the hostel and started shouting slogans. On getting information about the demonstration, the police also reached the school. When the policemen tried to convince the members, they were adamant about calling the school principal. They said that students of all sections study in the school, but the school management has issued a tender for halal meat for the mess.

They alleged that the school management does not have a record of serving Jhatka meat on the menu of the past years. This shows the management's desire for religious conversion. They demanded that the tender be stopped at the earliest. Meanwhile, when no official from the school side reached the spot, the workers came out and started creating ruckus at the second gate of the school. Here the guard did not open the gate. On this, some workers tried to cross the gate by climbing. As the commotion escalated, the school's vice-principal Mahesh Kandpal reached for talks. He told that the principal will come on July 29. The members can negotiate with them regarding the tender.

The Vice-Principal said that both Halal and Jhatka types of meat are included in the menu of the school mess for the students and staff. Three days halal and three days jhatka meat is provided. Their suppliers also differ. The school has already issued an advertisement for Halal meat, while the advertisement for Jhatka meat will be issued on Saturday so that no one has any objection.
