The police team was patrolling from Panditwadi to Ballupur Chowk after midnight on Monday. A suspicious person, who was trying to hide in the dark, appeared near a liquor shop under Ballupur flyover. While apprehending him, the police recovered a box of liquor from him. On strict interrogation, the accused told that he broke the window of the shop and took out beer and liquor from there.
He hid the beer boxes in the bushes nearby. Two boxes of beer were recovered from the bushes on the spot. The accused has been identified as Abhisandhu, a Tingri resident of Valmiki Basti in Vijay Colony Hathibadkala.
Accused Abhisandhu tried to escape from the custody of the police, but the police caught him by showing promptness. Inspector Vidyabhushan Negi said that the search is on for other associates of the accused, who smuggle smack.
