In today's meeting, the security and guidelines of the Kanwar fair were discussed. This time more than four crore Kanwariyas are expected to visit the Kanwar Yatra, which is going to be held after two years due to Corona infection.

A meeting was held regarding all these issues, How can security be provided to Kanwariyas coming in large numbers from other states? What steps can be taken as a precaution? The officers of the Intelligence Department were also involved in this. For the last two years, the number of Kanwariyas in the fair has been less. In such a situation, this time the number of Kanwariyas may be more, for which the police administration of many states is doing full planning.

It was decided that the Kanwar Mela area would be divided into 133 sectors. There more than 10 thousand policemen will be deployed in the security system.

Under the chairmanship of Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, the 17th Inter-State and Inter-Unit Coordination Meeting was organized in the auditorium at the Police Headquarters.

 

During this, the Director-General of Police said that from July 14 to July 26, there is a Kanwar Yatra. This is a very big religious event. We all know its challenges. Kanwar Yatra was banned for the last two years due to Corona infection. This time a large number of Shiva devotees are expected to come.

This is the first Kanwar Yatra after the Corona period. In the year 2018, more than two crores of Kanwariyas had come. In 2019, this number crossed three crores. they said that this time the yatra is taking place at an interval of two years, so the number of Kanwariyas can cross four crores.

Kanwar area will be divided into 12 super zones

The DGP asked all the states to get involved in its preparations from now on. The Kanwar area will be divided into 12 super zones, 31 zones, and 133 sectors. For this, the duty of more than 10 thousand policemen and officers will be imposed. Drones and CCTV cameras will be used for the security of the journey. Apart from this, surveillance on social media will be increased. In the Kanwar Yatra, an appeal will also be made for peace through social media. For this, he also asked for proper publicity on the Kanwar Yatra route.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Haridwar Yogendra Singh Rawat said that for the last 15-20 years, there is a huge increase in the number of Kanwariyas every year. In the year 2019, 3 crores of Kanwariyas came. Around 4 crore Kanwariyas are expected to arrive in 2022. 

He cooperated with all the officers in relation to forming a WhatsApp group of all the nodal officers engaged in arranging the Kanwar Yatra, conducting joint police checking on inter-state barriers, DJ at the origin of the Kanwariyas, monitoring the messages sent on social media, etc. appealed. Sticks pointed spears and other weapons will be completely banned in the Yatra.

Traffic management will change with new roads

Rajeev Sabharwal, ADG Law, and Order, Meerut Zone, said that many roads have been built after the year 2019. Among these, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Delhi Meerut Expressway have been constructed. This will bring a change in congestion and traffic management. Sign boards will be installed at all these places. A public address system will also be arranged on the travel route. Along with this, instructions have also been given for the verification of suspects in all the districts.

Meat and liquor shops will remain closed

Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that meat and liquor shops will remain closed on the Yatra route. For this, arrangements should be ensured in advance so that peace and order can be maintained. He said that Kanwariyas remain under the control of faith. Therefore, it is necessary to treat them kindly.

Kanwariyas will walk on the left

To go back to Delhi/Meerut from Haridwar, Kanwariyas have to walk on the left side of the road. Along with this, the camps and Bhandara, etc. will be kept 15 feet away from the roadside. It was said that keeping this in mind, the police and the local administration should allow them.

Kanwariyas will be made aware of carrying identity cards

  • During the Kanwar Yatra, the Kanwariyas will be made aware of carrying identity cards, not making Kanwar's higher than seven feet, and not traveling on the roofs of the railways. The Kanwariyas should be made aware of not consuming intoxicants.
  • At the police station of the place from where the kanwariyas are coming, all the information should be obtained. These will include vehicle number, number of people involved in the batch, mobile number, etc.
  •  Checking of suspicious persons and vehicles will be done at Inter-State Barrier/Check Post Chidiyapur Barrier, Narsan Check Post, Lakhnauta Check Post, Kali River Barrier, and Govardhan Check Post.
  • For better coordination, the nodal officers of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Himachal appointed for the Kanwar Yatra will sit in the control room at Haridwar.
  • It was decided to make adequate arrangements for medical camps and ambulances on the entire Kanwar Yatra route.
